Summer is here! Longue Vue’s Summer ‘Scapes 2026 camp is a space for kids ages 5-11 to learn, explore, and play! Each week offers unique surprises including fascinating presentations from expert guest speakers, waterplay day and our Fun Friday Extravaganza! There’s always something extraordinary happening at Summer 'Scapes!
Camp tuition is $325/week for members, Emma level and above, and $350/week for the general public. Aftercare is an additional $100/week and is available until 4PM. Membership must be active at the time of purchase and time of program to receive discounted registration. Camp is non-refundable, but your reservation can be transferred to a different week if capacity allows.
All campers must be 5 years of age by the start of any weeks registered for camp, no exceptions. We reserve the right to ask for proof of age prior to and during camp. No refunds will be issued, and you will be contacted to pick up your child. In addition to being at least 5 years old, campers must be fully potty-trained and independent in the restroom.
This summer, we've added an additional week of camp, and will run in 9 one-week sessions:
Session I: June 1 - June 5: Entomologist Camp:
Calling all bug lovers! Campers will participate in crafts and lessons that focus on the different types of creepy crawlers that make up our daily lives and how necessary they are to the environment.
Session II: June 8 - June 12: Garden Science Camp:
If you love gardens, dirt, and fun with a mixture of wonderful wild science experiments, this camp is for you! Campers will participate in science experiments, while learning the ins and outs of what it means to be a garden scientist.
Session III: June 15 - June 19: Horticulturist Camp:
Cultivate your very own edible garden at Longue Vue! In a unique opportunity to work directly with the Longue Vue gardens team, campers will learn the true meaning of garden to table!
Session IV: June 22 - June 26: Creative Writing Camp:
Attention all creatives! Express yourself through creative writing, art, and poetry! Campers will utilize our 22,000 square foot home and 8 acres of gardens as their very own muse, creating original works of art to showcase for families at a special end-of-week art walk.
June 29-July 3, 2026- NO CAMP
Session V: July 6 - July 10: Flora & Fauna of Louisiana Camp:
Research the plants and animals of Louisiana! Campers will explore the wonders of Louisiana ecology and engage in hands-on workshops and crafts.
Session VI: July 13 - July 17: The Art of Design Camp:
Calling all art enthusiasts! Campers will discover the unique design principles employed by Longue Vue’s own landscape architect and interior designer Ellen Shipman and apply them to their own creative projects and crafts.
Session VII: July 20 - July 24: Cultures of the World Camp:
No summer travels? No problem! Inspired by the Sterns’ 15-month journey around the world, campers will broaden their horizons without ever leaving the city. Enjoy seeing new sights, trying new foods, and learning key phrases in multiple languages!.
Session VIII: July 27 - July 31: Leaf & Light Theater Camp:
Welcome all lovers of theater! Campers will spend each day practicing improvisation, costume design and script writing. The week will culminate with the presentation of a camper written, garden-related skit to present to family and friends at our annual showcase!
Session IX: August 3- August 7, 2026: Wellness Camp:
Welcome to our last week of camp! Join us as we ease back-to-school jitters with a week filled with mindfulness, meditation, and academic enrichment. Campers will spend each day practicing meditation, breathwork, and back-to-school tools designed to help them feel confident, prepared, and ready to rule the school year!
