Garden Birthday Party

Garden Birthday Parties are available Saturdays at 10AM and 2PM. No other start times shall be allowed other than in extraordinary circumstances (in which an additional fee may be required).

During your party, you will have non-exclusive access to the Discovery Garden and exclusive access to the Lath House (sheltered picnic and activity area).

Garden Birthdays last two hours, with 60 minutes of set-up time before the event and 30 minutes to clean up afterwards.

Up to 35 total guests are included (whether children or adults), with one dedicated Longue Vue staff member as your Birthday Host. Additional guests may be added at the general admission rate of $10/person, but client acknowledges that no more than 35 guests can fit in the Education Center, which is made available in the event of rain.  

The birthday family can choose one facilitated activity. Facilitated activities include: a garden-themed craft, potted plant activity, ladybug release, 15-minute garden yoga session, collaborative drawing or other artwork, or scavenger hunt. Self-led activities, such as rakes, shovels, watering cans, and toys, are also placed in the garden to encourage independent play.

Also included:

• • Access to the Discovery Garden and the Lath House: a semi-covered picnic area with fans, sinks, and six picnic tables
  • Non-exclusive access to four nearby restrooms
  • Complimentary flower or seasonal vegetable seed packet for each party guest
  • Complimentary parking
  • Complimentary admission to the Longue Vue gardens for the full day, for all guests
  • Your Longue Vue Birthday Host will be on site to support you throughout the event

Longue Vue does not provide a cake; parents are welcome to bring a cake. Individualized treats may also be ordered in advance from Edith & Edgar’s Museum Cafe.

By proceeding with this reservation, you acknowledge and agree to the following policies:

• Payment in full and acceptance of site policies are required to guarantee a reservation.
• Final guest count must be provided to Longue Vue no later than one week before the event to ensure adequate supplies. A final count will be taken upon arrival and client can pay for any additional guests following the event. 
• Longue Vue handles all cleaning for this event. Client is responsible for clearing all celebration materials from the site. If event materials are left by client, an additional $50 clean-up charge will be assessed. 
• Hosts may arrive up to one hour before the start of the event and may remain in the rented space up to 30 minutes beyond the end time. While you may visit the gardens following your celebration, a penalty of $100 will be assessed for clients who remain in the celebration space more than 30 minutes after the rental end time. 
• Cancelations made at least 30 days in advance of the event will receive a 75% refund. 
• Cancelations made at least 10 days in advance of the event will receive a 50% refund.
• Rescheduling requests must be received no less than 72 hours in advance of the event to avoid forfeiture of your fee. 
• All cancelation and rescheduling requests must be made in writing to Mariah Theobald at education@longuevue.com.
• Please note that the cancelation and reschedule policy will not be amended based on weather, other than in the event of severe weather requiring the entire Longue Vue site to close, in which case a full refund or complimentary reschedule will be granted. In the event or rain or other inclement weather that does not require a site closure, Longue Vue will make interior space (the Education Center) available to your guests, at no additional charge. 
• Clients will not have access to a refrigerator and are encouraged to bring ice chests for refrigeration needs.
• Live or amplified music is not permitted without express written approval by Longue Vue. 
• Latex balloons, glitter, or confetti are not permitted on site.
• Client may bring food and beverages as desired, but hot food may not be prepared nor served on-site.
• Longue Vue is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Longue Vue House & Gardens adjoins a residential neighborhood; accordingly, all guests are required to adhere to the following:

• As of April 2021, facial coverings must be worn in public areas of the site and while interacting with Longue Vue staff.
• Noise must be kept to a reasonable minimum; amplified music is not allowed.
• All vehicles must be parked in areas designated by Longue Vue staff.
• Client and guests may not move garden furniture, cut or pick plants or flowers, or otherwise make changes to the Discovery Garden, Lath House, or Education Center, other than in direct collaboration and supervision of designated Longue Vue staff (the Birthday Host and/or Programs Manager). Any changes or damages to the gardens or facilities will result in a minimum damage fee of $100; such fee shall be based on visual documentation by Longue Vue.
